Clayton wins World Series of Darts

WALES’ Johnny Clayton won the World Series of Darts on Sunday night (Oct 31) as he beat Dimitri Van Den Bergh 11-6 in the final.

The Ferret had already beaten home favourite Michael Van Gerwen by the same scoreline in the semi-final and he followed that up by winning his fourth TV title of the year.

Clayton raced into an early 2-0 lead but Van Den Bergh fought back with a checkout of 112 and then won the next two legs to take a 3-2 lead.

The Welshman then won the next two legs to regain the lead before both players traded legs to go in at the interval level at 5-5.

After the restart Clayton edged ahead and at 8-6 he was just three legs away from the title.

Another break loomed and after Van Den Bergh had missed double 11 for 124-checkout, Clayton took advantage with a 103 finish to lead 9-6.
