PEMBROKE DOCK earned their second win of the season on Saturday (Jun 25) as they beat third-placed Carew by 28 runs.
With other teams above them securing wins, a defeat could have seen the Dock cut adrift but the win sees them move to within four points of third-from-bottom Lawrenny.
Carew won the toss and chose to field and they were able to bowl the Dock out for 135.
Billy Wood top scored for the Dock with 71, which included six fours and two sixes, while Scott Griffiths added 31 and Archie Hillier-Wood scored 14 as he was the only other batsman to make it into double figures.
James Hinchliffe was in good form with the ball as he finished with figures of 4-16. Sam Hats (2-7) and Shaun Whitfield (2-22) were also amongst the wickets.
In reply, Carew had a score of 32 from Lewis Hicks and 20 from Ian Sefton while Iori Hicks scored 18.
It wasn’t enough to help them to victory though as the Dock had other ideas. Wood followed up his earlier score to finish with four wickets for the loss of 20 runs.
There was also three wickets for Euan McDonald while Scott Griffiths claimed two and there was one for Neil Gregory.
On Saturday, July 2, Carew will look to bounce back when they travel to Saundersfoot while Pembroke Dock host Narberth.
