Final minute’s blues for Haverfordwest

Tycroes 18
Haverfordwest 17

IT WAS HEARTACHE for Haverfordwest as they let victory slip from their grasp in the final minute, as they conceded a penalty try in the final play of the game. It was however Haverfordwest who made the stronger start as Steve Williams kicked a neat penalty before he jinked his way through for a try, which he converted.

Tycroes at home, were never going to be rolled over and they fought back with a try from busy number 8 Adam Price, with Chris Richards adding the extras, before he stepped up to add three points with a well struck penalty. With the scores level the second half began as a tight affair, before Haverfordwest released quick winger Scott Candler with some quick hands and smart off loading.

Williams did well to add the extras. Ill discipline cost the Blues as they were marched back towards their try line numerous times but kept Tycroes out, with Richards only managing one penalty. However, the very last play of the game the referee awarded Tycroes a penalty try, dashing the hopes of the Blues, leaving them to settle with a losing bonus point. Haverfordwest now travel to Aberystwyth on Saturday (Nov 1) for their next league fixture.
