MONKTON SWIFTS earned their second win of the season on Saturday (Sept 24) as they beat Neyland 5-0.
Neyland made a couple of mistakes early on and it saw them go 3-0 down inside the first ten minutes.
Ben Steele opened the scoring and he then turned provider for Jason Finnegan to make it 2-0.
Steele then grabbed his second and the Swifts could have had more had it not been for Neyland keeper Patrick Hannon who made some good saves.
There were a couple of half chances for Neyland as they looked to get back into the game but on the stroke of half time Monkton made it 4-0.
Finnegan scored his second of the match to effectively win the game for the Swifts.
Martyn Carroll scored Monkton’s fifth 11 minutes from time to complete the scoring.
On Saturday, October 1, both sides are in action in the first round of the Senior Cup. Neyland are away to Johnston and Monkton travel to St Ishmaels, both kicking off at 1:45pm.
