Ben Davies has pulled out of the Wales squad scheduled to play against Croatia and Latvia in the Euro 2024 qualifiers after picking up an injury.
Last Saturday, during Tottenham Hotspur’s Premier League match against Southampton, Davies was substituted due to a suspected hamstring issue.
The squad will now include Stoke defender Morgan Fox and an additional goalkeeper, Tom King.
When the Wales squad was unveiled earlier this month, 29-year-old defender Davies was appointed as the vice-captain by Robert Page.
His non-appearance is a notable setback for Wales as they gear up for their first competition since the World Cup.
At 29 years of age, Fox has not yet earned a cap despite previously representing Wales in the Under-21 side. The current squad consists of three goalkeepers, namely Wayne Hennessey, Danny Ward, and Adam Davies.
All three were present in their respective team’s lineup over the weekend, but none of them were called upon to play.
Ward, who was replaced by Dane Daniel Iversen and subsequently did not feature in Leicester City’s match against Brentford, was among those dropped.
King, a former Newport County goalkeeper, joined Northampton Town from League Two opponents Salford in January and has also not yet received a cap for Wales.
