CARDIFF MET secured a welcome win on Saturday (Apr 17) as they beat Cefn Druids 2-1 at The Rock.

It was their first win since December 1 and their poor run of form has seen them slip into the bottom two of the Play-off conference.

On Saturday, they came up against the only side with a worse record than themselves and they made a good start to the game.

Elliot Evans and Ollie Hulbert both had early chances for the Met but both were kept out.

As the first half drew to a close the game came to life. Evans brought the ball down well and found the bottom corner with a fine left-footed strike.

Hulbert almost added a second moments later but his effort was saved by the Druids keeper.

On the stroke of half time, the Druids were awarded a free kick and Ryan Kershaw stepped up to curl the ball over the wall and into the net.

With the score at 1-1 at the break the game was still there for the taking for both sides.

Both sides knew the next goal would be crucial and it was the visitors who got it.

Kyle McCarthy sent a corner into the box and it was met by an unmarked Matt Chub who fired the ball into the net.

Joe Faux then had a chance to bring the home side back level but his effort was well saved by Alex Lang in the Met goal.

The Met were inches away from a third when a long ball to the back post was played back in to Eliot Evans but his fierce shot hit the bar and the Druids were able to clear.

Faux was again close to scoring an equaliser for the Druids as he cut in side and cut back to shoot but his blocked shot was tipped over the bar by Lang.

The Met saw the game out and will look forward to tonight’s game with Haverfordwest County, kick off 7:45pm.
