Gareth Bale will make a decision on his club future after Wales’ World Cup play-off final result.
Gareth Bale’s agent Jonathan Barnett has said nothing has been decided regarding the future of Bale’s club career, with his contract at Real Madrid expiring at the end of this season.
Barnett stated a decision will be made after Wales’ fate in the World Cup is determined.
In an interview with BBC Sport Wales, the agent said: “We have not discussed anything yet.”
“Once we know Wales’ situation with the World Cup, we will discuss it then.”
Bale scored twice in a 2-1 victory over Austria in the play-off semi final last Thursday, securing a spot in the final.
The final will be played in June, with the Scotland/Ukraine semi-final winner set to face Wales to battle for a spot in the 2022 World Cup.
Wales’ World Cup final result will have a major effect on where Bale goes next. He has said multiple time that leading Wales to their first World Cup since 1958 is his “greatest remaining ambition”.
The 32-year-old currently earns around £600,00 per week at Real Madrid, with the contract coming to an end this summer – and a near certainty he will not be renewing.
If Wales qualify, Bale will need to find a new club to remain fit for the World Cup fixtures in November/December. There has been huge speculation regarding a return to home town club Cardiff City – whether the Championship side can afford his wages is a different question.
According to bookmakers, Tottenham Hotspur is favourite to welcome Bale back to the Premier League after his loan spell there last season – at odds of 2/1. Wages would’t be a problem at the North London side.

During his nine year spell at Madrid, the Welshman has won 14 trophies – including four UEFA Champions Leagues, two La Liga titles and four Club World Cups.
