Keates to leave role as Wrexham boss

WREXHAM will not be renewing the contract of manager Dean Keates after the club failed to reach the National League play-offs.

The club drew 1-1 with Dagenham and Redbridge in their final game of the season on Saturday (May 29) and that saw Bromley leapfrog them into seventh place after they beat Notts County.

A spokesperson for Wrexham said it was a ‘disappointment’ that the club had fallen short of the play offs, adding they had acted quickly to address the managerial position at the club.

Manager Dean Keates, whose contract expired at the end of the season, has been informed that he will not be retained, along with his Assistant Manager, Andy Davies, and First Team Coach, Carl Darlington.

Co-Chairmen Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds said: “We would like to thank Dean, Andy and Carl for all their efforts on behalf of the Club, in what at times were challenging circumstances.

“We are committed to returning the Club to the EFL at the earliest opportunity and feel that a change of manager will provide us with the best chance of achieving that objective.

“Dean, Andy and Carl will always be welcome at the Club.”

The Club’s search for a new manager will commence with immediate effect.
