Penlan continue winning run

PENLAN continued their winning run with a comfortable 4-0 win against an eager CK Swiss Valley team on Saturday (Jan 22).

The visitors started the game on the front foot with Luke Dalling and Liam Otten creating several chances in the first 15 minutes.

The home side defended the attacks well with the CKSV keeper making some great saves to keep the score at 0-0.

It looked like it might be another frustrating afternoon for the league leaders in front of goal. That was until Liam Otten burst down the left wing on the overlap played a neat give and go with Luke Dalling and delivered an inch perfect cross into the penalty area finding the late run of Jordan Doyle who powered his header into the back of the net.

Penlan didn’t have to wait too long for their second either. They won the ball in midfield straight from the kick off and goal scorer turned provider as Jordan Doyle played the ball through to Sam Lewis who made no mistake with his finish, doubling Penlan’s lead.

The away team continued to dominate the ball playing some lovely football throughout the rest of the first half but failing to add to their two goals.

The second half started much the same as the first with Penlan in total control of the ball. Time after time they attacked down the left hand side with Luke and Liam a constant thorn in the side of the CK defence.

It was just past the hour mark when Penlan scored the goal of the game. After winning the ball in midfield, Jamie James drove forward, laying the ball into the path of the outstanding Liam Otten. He struck the ball from 30 yards out with power and precision, giving Liam Davey in goals no chance, as he watched the ball crash into the top corner. A thunderous strike from the left back.

Penlan made some substitutes but the pattern of the game didn’t change. They continued to attack the Llanelli side and didn’t look like slowing down.

Whenever they lost the ball they quickly won it back frustrating the home team.

On the 87th minute, centre half Luke Edwards found himself through on goal after a lofted pass from Liam Otten. No stranger in front of goal, he brilliantly sent the goalkeeper a dummy before slotting the ball home for goal number four.

A dominant display from the league leaders takes their unbeaten run to eleven games with a much needed and deserved clean sheet.

On Saturday, January 29, Penlan travel to third placed South Gower, while CKSV host Mumbles Rangers.
