THE NEW SAINTS put in another strong home performance on Saturday (Nov 6) as they beat Haverfordwest County 6-0.

Three goals in seven first-half minutes set Anthony Limbrick’s team on their way to their biggest league win of the season – a result that maintains their seven point lead at the top of the table.

The first effort of the match went to the visitors, with Kurtis Rees firing wide of the mark with nine minutes on the clock.

Down the other end, pressure from Limbrick’s team forced a couple of corners, but some good defending from the side in blue prevented any danger from arising.

With 24 minutes gone, Louis Robles came close to breaking the deadlock, after spinning with the ball on the penalty spot. His effort called Wojciech Gajda into action for the first time, but the Polish goalkeeper pulled off a smart save to deny him.

Gajda could do nothing to prevent the game’s first goal from arriving five minutes later though. A great cross from Danny Redmond was met in the middle by Ryan Brobbel, where the number eight showed great execution to head in the opener.

Three minutes later, it was two, as Brobbel turned provider for Declan McManus. A well-timed pass from the Northern Ireland Under-21 international allowed the Scottish forward to stay onside, and he made no mistake in slotting the ball into the far corner.

McManus wasted no time in grabbing his second of the day either. With 36 minutes played, he took advantage of a defensive error, and collected the ball in space, before beating the visiting goalkeeper with another composed finish.

Following the restart, Brobbel continued to look lively, and almost added a fourth goal for the league leaders with a 51st minute free-kick.

10 minutes later though, Danny Redmond did extend the TNS lead further, as he sent a superb volley into the far corner from just outside the box.

Not resting on their laurels, Limbrick’s team continued to push for more, and McManus almost scored his third of the day in the 71st minute.

However, he didn’t have to wait too much longer for his hat-trick goal to arrive, as six minutes later, he found the target once more, taking ownership of another match ball with his 12th of the season.

The visitors had the chance to score a late consolation in the 83rd minute, after a slip from Redmond gave Ben Fawcett an opening. The Haverfordwest man failed to capitalise though, and fired wide from distance.

With just a minute to play, substitute, Dean Ebbe, rounded off the scoring with an edge-of-the-box volley, and capped off another superb afternoon for his side.

The New Saints are next in action this coming Tuesday (November 9), when they travel to Park Avenue to face Aberystwyth Town in the JD Cymru Premier.
