THIS Saturday (Nov 6), the second round of the West Wales Cup gets underway and there is plenty of excitement across west Wales.
One of the ties of the round sees St Clears hosting Felinfoel with both sides looking to continue their impressive starts to the season.
Felinfoel play in Division 1 of the Carmarthenshire League, one league below the Premier Division, while St Clears play in Division 2 of the Pembrokeshire League.
The Saints sit seventh in their league having only played five times while Felinfoel sit top of Division 1, six points ahead of the chasing pack.
St Clears have lost just once all season with that defeat coming in a 5-4 reverse against Monkton Swifts seconds.
They come into the game having had a week off after their game against Milford United was postponed.
Prior to that though they had beaten rivals Pendine in the Pembrokeshire Senior Cup and thumped Broad Haven 7-0 in Division 2 so they will be full of confidence.
Felinfoel also had a weekend off after their game with FC Carmarthen was called off.
They are yet to taste defeat this season and have only dropped points on one occasion when they drew 1-1 with Llandovery.
They go into Saturday’s game having beaten Pwll 3-2 and Llandeilo Town 8-1 so they too will also be full of confidence.
Felinfoel manager Tony Andrews said: “Saturday’s game is going to be a good test for our boys who are very much looking forward to seeing if we can keep our unbeaten start to the season going.
“We have a couple of players missing but we take a good squad to St Clears for what is expected to be a very tough game.”
St Clears manager Nick Squire said: “We are going into the game with confidence, having kept four clean sheets in the last four games.
“It’s always nice playing teams in the West Wales Cup because you don’t know what you’re coming up against, which can work in your favour. Looking to keep momentum is a priority for us.”
The game kicks off at 1:30pm and a good crowd is expected.
