Second half goals save Goodwick

GoodwickGoodwick United 3
Monkton Swifts 1

THE Phoenix boys from Goodwick scored three second half goals to progress into the next round against Monkton Swifts.

The Swifts opened the scoring after 20 minutes when Dan Scourfield drilled home a 20-yard free kick. After a good talking to at half time by player/manager Steve Blackford, Goodwick came out fighting and dominated the second half proceedings.

James Evans scored a penalty to draw things level minutes into the second half and soon after Aled Rees scored the second with a low drilled shot from 20 yards. It did not help matters when Swifts defender Jamie Callum saw red and was sent for an early shower by the referee.

Then with ten minutes to go substitute Jac Pepper put the game beyond doubt with a well taken goal to see Goodwick into the next round.
