First half goals seal win for Vikings

THREE first half goals ensured that Hakin United gained the three points at the Observatory Field. The Sports were on the back foot early on and gave away a penalty in the second minute when Adam Davies was brought down by Paul Hodge.

Steven Allen stepped up to take it and he sent the keeper the wrong way to give the home side the lead. However, three minutes later Saundersfoot could have been level but Sam Coleman’s header was tipped on to the bar by keeper James Manson.

With half an hour gone the Vikings took a quick corner and after Steven Mathias’s shot was saved, the referee spotted a handball as Sports tried to clear their lines and awarded a second penalty. Responsibility again fell to Allen and the outcome was the same as the first. Hakin forward Davies was again involved as he set up Aaron Owens for the third goal. Owens curled his shot away from the keeper and into the bottom left corner of the goal.

Faint hopes of a comeback were extinguished two minutes into the second half as Hakin added a fourth goal. James Stanmore flicked the ball on in the box and Ashley Bevan beat one defender to side foot the ball home. Geoff Marsh had a good chance to grab a consolation for the Sports but he lashed his shot high and wide as they struggled to break down the Vikings defence.
