Goodwick come from behind to beat Clarbeston Road

GOODWICK UNITED earned victory on the opening day of the season on Saturday (Sept 3) as they beat Clarbeston Road 7-3.

They didn’t have it all their own way though as Clarby took the lead on 28 minutes through Matthew Ellis.

Their lead only lasted seven minutes though as Rhys Dalling scored off an assist from Luke Hayward.

However, Clarby went back ahead three minutes later as Jake Booth found the net.

That gave them a 2-1 lead at the break.

The second half was just four minutes old before the first goal was scored as Rhys Jones scored to level the game.

Dalling was then the provider as he set up new signing Will Haworth to score to put Goodwick ahead.

Clarby were not out of the game and the levelled it back up three minutes later when Matthew Davies scored.

With just under 20 minutes to go Goodwick regained the lead through Stefan Hayes.

On 81 minutes Goodwick were awarded a penalty and Hughes scored his second of the game.

Three minutes later Haworth grabbed his second and it was seven a minute later as Jordan Griffiths scored.

The season continues on Saturday, September 10, when Goodwick host Kilgetty while Clarbeston Road visit Hakin United.
