CARMARTHENSHIRE athlete Dewi Griffiths finished in 6th position at the Great Edinburgh Cross Country on Saturday, an event which saw Great Britain’s Olympic legend Mo Farah beaten into second place by American Garrett Heath.
With much of the focus on Farah, Griffiths put in a fine performance to get his 2016 off to a flier, as he led the field for much of the race before succumbing to the wet, heavy conditions late on. Dewi finished the 8km race in 25.50, just 19 seconds behind Farah, and only 20 seconds off the eventual winner. 24-year-old Griffiths later took to Twitter to state his delight with the performance stating that the result was an ‘exciting start’ to 2016.
