Kilgetty book Senior Cup semi-final with Carew

KILGETTY booked a Senior Cup semi-final with Carew after beating Pembroke Boro 6-2 on Saturday (Feb 26).

The match had been called off twice because of the bad weather and was therefore switched to Pembroke Boro’s pitch.

There was no need to worry about the rain on Saturday though as both sides battled well in the sunny conditions for a place in the last four.

Richard Cope opened the scoring for the visitors after ten minutes and eight minutes later Lloyd Hughes made it 2-0.

The Division 2 leaders were not done there though and they soon had a third through Jake Proctor.

With eight minutes to go until half time the game was effectively put to bed as Cope scored his second goal of the game.

Leading 4-0 at the break, the visitors made some early substitutions in the second half.

Cope then completed his hat trick on 67 minutes to make it 5-0 but three minutes later the Boro pulled a goal back through Luke Hendry.

The five-goal cushion was restored in a matter of minutes as sub Oliver Griffiths bagged Kilgetty’s sixth goal of the afternoon.

Hendry then pulled a second goal back for the Boro with six minutes left to play but it was just a consolation for the Division 3 side.
