Kilgetty edge closer to Division 2 title

KILGETTY edged closer to the Division 2 title on Tuesday night (Apr 5) as they beat Milford Athletic 5-1.

The Division 2 leaders have 5 games left to play but St Clears have eight games left and sit fourteen points behind them.

Third placed Milford United could also catch Kilgetty but they sit eight points behind with three games left to play, one of those being against Kilgetty on Thursday night (Apr 7).

Rhys Hewson put Kilgetty ahead against Athletic on 13 minutes and they doubled their lead with half an hour gone, Oliver Griffiths getting the goal.

Adam Arnott then pulled a goal back for the Athletic as he drilled a low shot into the corner after Kilgetty failed to clear.

The visitors were awarded a penalty on 58 minutes and Mark Davies scored to restore Kilgetty’s 2-goal lead.

It remained 3-1 until late on as sub Lloyd Hughes scored with five minutes to go to all but seal the points.

Tom Baker scored Kilgetty’s fifth as they recorded their fifteenth win of the league season.

Next up on Thursday is that game at home against Milford United and on Saturday, April 9, they travel to Broad Haven.

Milford Athletic are also in action on Saturday as they host Monkton Swifts seconds.
