Kilgetty win Division 3 title

KILGETTY won the Division 3 title on Saturday (Aug 20) as they beat Haverfordwest seconds by nine wickets.

Going into the game, Kilgetty sat ten points ahead of their nearest challengers and knew they would need to win to guarantee a first place finish.

Kilgetty won the toss and chose to field first and they were able to restrict Town seconds to 148-8 in their innings.

Nikil Mathias top scored with 63 and Dan Field also batted well as he scored 50.

David Haynes scored 12 for the visitors but three wickets from Levi Hughes (3-22) halted Town’s momentum.

Richard Cope also took 2-27 for Kilgetty and Anthony Bevan claimed 2-20.

In reply Jack Parkinson scored 39 before he was out but Toby Poole finished unbeaten on an excellent score of 108 to seal the win and the title for Kilgetty.

It means an immediate return to Division 2 for Kilgetty after being relegated in 2021.

Kilgetty have won 12 of their 18 games this season, losing only three times, and they win the Division by 12 points from second placed Cresselly seconds.
