Late penalty sinks Felinfoel

A LAST gasp penalty for Glynneath saw them through to the third round of the WRU Plate on Saturday (Oct 27).

Dylan Francis’ penalty gave the visitors a narrow 9-11 victory following a hard fought game between two good sides.

Glynneath took the lead with a penalty in the first half before Felinfoel answered with one of their own.

The visitors went ahead again with an unconverted try before the home side pulled another penalty back.

With the score 6-8 at half time the game was still very much up for grabs and after an even start to the second half it was the home side who went ahead.

Johnny George put them ahead with another penalty and it looked as if they might see the game out to go through to the next round.

However, Francis had other ideas and he kept his nerve with a late penalty to put his side back in the lead.

The home side looked for a late winning effort but they were unable to break through and the referee brought the game to a close.

Felinfoel will now turn their attentions back to league action and after a week off they take on Tenby United away on Saturday, November 10.
