Llandysul up to third

LLANDYSUL moved up to third place in Division 1 on Saturday (Jun 29) as they earned a narrow three wicket win over Dafen.

Llandysul won the toss and elected to field and they were able to keep Dafen to 190-9 in their 50 overs.

Dafen lost opener Nicky Davies early on when he was run out on a score of 11 by Joe Swift.

Scott Phillips made the same score before being bowled by Swift who then had Simon Davies caught by Ieuan Paske to leave Dafen on 49-3.

Matthew Evans had hit four fours and a six in his score of 29 but he was trapped leg before by Llewelyn Hughes.

George Lavender made a score of 18 but he was then caught and bowled by Hughes. He then claimed his third wicket as he bowled David Dunfee on a score of 17.

That left Dafen on 105-6 but Matthew Donoghue and Jonathan Randell shared 38 runs for the seventh wicket.

Randell made a score of 19 before he was caught by Hughes off the bowling of Steffan Jones.

Donoghue was joined by Philip George and the pair shared another 47 runs for the eighth wicket.

George also made a score of 19 but he was then caught by Ben Edkins off the bowling of Arfon Jones.

Donoghue had hit five fours in a score of 42 but he was then caught by Carwyn Evans off the bowling of Arfon Jones as Dafen finished on 190-9.

Llandysul’s reply got off to a bad start as they lost both openers cheaply. Meurig Jones was caught by Daniel Vaughan off the bowling of David Dunfee and Gary Williams was caught by Jonathan Randell off the bowling of Matthew Evans as Llandysul were reduced to 9-2.

Ben Edkins hit three fours and a six in his score of 20 but he was then stumped by Vaughan off the bowling of Phillip George.

That left them on 39-3 but Bleddyn Morgan and Llewelyn Hughes shared 79 runs for the fourth wicket to put their side in a good position.

Morgan hit seven fours in a score of 44 but he was then caught by Vaughan off the bowling of Chris Hudson.

Matthew Donoghue then bowled Steffan Jones before Hughes, who hit seven fours and a six in his score of 54, was caught by Simon Davies off the bowling of Hudson to leave Llandysul on 135-6.

Carwyn Evans and Ieuan Paske then shared 29 runs for the seventh wicket to edge their side closer to their target.

Evans was trapped leg before by Randell but Dafen were unable to take any further wickets.

Paske and Joe Swift finished unbeaten with Paske hitting four fours and a six in his score of 37 while Swift scored 14.
