Llanelli seal bragging rights with win over Carmarthen Wanderers

LLANELLI earned their first win of the season on Saturday (May 21) as they beat south-Wales rivals Carmarthen Wanderers.

The Wanderers chose to bat first upon winning the toss but they were bowled out for 110.

There were scores of 14 from Robbie Crawford, 10 from Owain Davies, 14 from Owen Bailey and 19 from Tom Davies.

They lost wickets at regular intervals though as Iwan Rees claimed figures of 4-17 while Jac Rees claimed 2-14 for Llanelli.

There were also two wickets for Alex Symmons, whose second wicket was that of Tom Davies who had stuck around for 94 balls.

Liam Rogers was Carmarthen’s top scorer on 23 but it wasn’t enough to stop the visitors’ excellent bowling.

In reply, Iwan Rees and Owain Baxter got Llanelli off to an excellent start as they shared 52 runs for the first wicket.

Baxter was first to depart as he was run out by Lewis Byng on a score of 20.

Rees had hit five fours in a score of 42 but he was then stumped by Harry Conick off the bowling of Owen Bailey.

Chris Turrell then removed Rhys Harries before Bailey removed Steven Devonald on a score of 14.
