Llangwm ease to win over Town

LLANGWM earned their fifth win of the season on Saturday (Jul 2) as they beat Haverfordwest by eight wickets.

Llangwm won the toss and chose to field first and that proved a good decision as they bowled Town out for 97.

Steven Mills bowled Mikey Jones early on for a duck before James Marchant and Dan Field shared 35 runs for the second wicket.

However, Mills struck again as he bowled Marchant (9) and more wickets began to fall.

Dan Field had scored 24 but he was bowled by Joe Phillips. Mills then claimed his third wicket as he trapped Dan Potter leg before, leaving Town on 44-4.

That became 57-5 when Jake Merry (5) was bowled by Noah Davies and Town were six down when Matthew Kiff had Jack Scriven caught by Will Beresford.

Dai Davies and Ashley James added 18 runs for the seventh wicket but Brock then bowled James (7).

Soon after Davies, who had hit three fours in a score of 25, was bowled by Phillips.

Brock then bowled Will Phillips before Joe Phillips bowled Johnny White on a score of 11 (two fours).

That brought Town’s innings to a close and it meant Llangwm would need just 98 to win.

Llangwm lost Will Beresford when he was bowled by Johnny White but Steven Mills and David Lewis shared 39 runs for the second wicket.

Lewis hit three fours in a score of 15 but he was then bowled by Clive Tucker.

Mills and Matthew Kiff were then untroubled as they saw Llangwm to victory. Kiff hit two fours and a six in his score of 16 while Mills hit nine fours and a six as he finished unbeaten on 50.

The win sees Llangwm stay in fifth place in the table while Town sit seventh.
