Llangwm finish second after beating Carew

LLANGWM finished second in Division 1 after they beat Carew on the final day of the season on Saturday (Aug 20).

There was an outside chance that they could have won the title going into the final game but it would have taken an unlikely set of circumstances for that to happen.

However, it represented Llangwm’s best ever finish to a Division 1 season since 1969.

Llangwm won the toss and chose to bat first and they had a score of 44 from Ollie Davies and 42 from Matthew Kiff.

Joseph Kiff also added 14 and Luke Brock added 24 but Iori Hicks’ 4-wicket haul kept Llangwm in check as they were bowled out for 167.

Shaun Whitfield also chipped in with figures of 2-27 for Carew.

In reply, Carew’s James Hinchliffe top scored with 29 as he hit four fours and a six before eventually falling to the bowling of Noah Davies.

Brian Hall added 15 and there were scores of 12 from Ceri Brace and Luke Hicks but that was as good as it got for the visitors.

Steve Mills starred for the home side, taking five wickets to finish with excellent figures of 5-14.

Noah Davies had 2-29 and Matthew Kiff also bowled well for his figures of 2-14.
