Llechryd storm to the top

LLECHRYD’s Rhys Beard took seven wickets as they dismantled Pembroke in Division 2 on Saturday (Jun 8).

None of Pembroke’s batsmen could reach double figures as they were bowled out for just 31 runs inside twenty overs.

Paul White scored 5 before he was caught by Andrew Fletcher to give Beard his first wicket.

Beard also bowled Sam Davies for a duck and he then did the same to Jonathan Rogers who had scored 8.

That left them on 21-3 but it soon became 22-7 as Beard and John Curran ripped through the middle order.

Curran trapped Jamie Kaijaks leg before for a duck and he then claimed a caught and bowled. Jake Harris scored 7 but he was then caught by Fletcher off Beard’s bowling once again.

Beard then bowled George Davies for a duck and also trapped Aiden Fraser leg before.

Graham Keen then had Jack Smythe caught by James Betterley for a duck and the innings came to a close when Beard had Paul Francis caught by Betterley.

Beard’s stunning bowling meant he finished with excellent figures of 7-14.

James Betterley and John Curran then wasted little time in knocking off the runs needed as they took just 5.1 overs to reach their target.

Betterley finished not out on 9 while Curran was unbeaten on 19.

The win sees Llechryd move to the top of Division 2, now twenty points clear of second placed Narberth.

On Saturday (Jun 15), Llechryd travel to Pembroke Dock while Pembroke will look to bounce back when they travel to Hook.
