Milford Haven Soroptimists presents cheque to disabled bowlers club

SOROPTIMIST International of Milford Haven has recently presented a cheque for £450 to the Pembrokeshire Disabled Bowlers Club.

Joint Presidents for 2021-2022 Janet Watson and Heather Phippen chose the Club as one of their charities for the year. Funds were raised at a Gardeners’ Question Time held at St Ishmaels Garden Centre last September and a Quiz held at the Royal British Legion Club, Milford Haven in February this year.

Pembrokeshire Disabled Bowlers Club meet at the Meads Sports Centre every Monday from 12 – 2.00pm.

They currently have over 30 disabled bowlers including several wheelchair users and visually impaired members. Members come from as far afield as Aberystwyth and from all areas of West Wales.

Early April 2022 saw 3 members take part in the Para Home Nations Event in Solihull, Birmingham and 4 members also went to Cardiff to compete in the Learning Difficulty Games.

The Club’s main organisers are Steve and Olwen Whitmore who work alongside a great team of volunteers. For further detail about the club please contact the Meads Sports Centre, Milford Haven.

Soroptimist International of Milford Haven are pleased to say that they are now back up and running as usual.

They are holding a Charity Film Show at the Torch Theatre on May 15 to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society (details and booking at the Torch), another Gardeners’ Question Time at St Ishmaels Nursery on June 21 and will have a Tombola stall at Milford Carnival on July 2.
