Nant move up to second after beating Milford

NANRGAREDIG moved up to second place in the League 2 West table on Saturday (Jan 8), as they beat Milford Haven 20-0 at The Obs.

It was the only game to be played in the Division with others called off because of covid-19 issues.

Nantgaredig’s Lloyd Williams scored the only points of the first half when he landed a penalty but both sides came close to scoring.

Midway through the half a high tackle from the visitors gave Milford an advantage. When nothing came of it the Mariners chose to kick to touch despite the difficult conditions. The kick did find touch well and they worked the ball left from the line-out before another Nant infringement.

The home side kicked to touch and were 5 metres out but try as they might they could not force away through as Nant defended well.

Nant then enjoyed a good period of pressure as the half came to a close but a penalty from Williams fell just short of the posts.

They held on to their lead until half time and they went on to increase their advantage in the second half.

Meirion Davies scored the game’s first try and and Williams added the extra two points.

Remiel Wharton also went over for Nant and Williams was again successful with the conversion before also adding a second penalty.

On Saturday, January 15, Nantgaredig will look for another win as they host Kidwelly.
