Narberth beat Tish for first win

NARBERTH earned their first win of the season on Saturday (May 14) as they beat St Ishmaels by 73 runs.

Tish won the toss and chose to field but they couldn’t keep Narberth from scoring a mammoth 268-8 in their 45 overs.

Tish had beaten Haverfordwest the previous week but they were unable to pick up another win as they fell short in their reply.

Narberth’s Loui Davies top scored with 62 runs and Kyle Quartermaine added 51 runs.

Ben Hughes scored 40 and Ben Quartermaine scored 30 while Richie Adams also played well for his knock of 48.

Kevin Bowen was the pick of the bowlers for Tish as he took 3-46 while Brennan Devonald also claimed 2-31.

Peter Bradshaw also claimed two wickets, finishing with figures of 2-27.

In reply, Tish lost openers Karl Rhead and Huw Scriven early on while Peter Bradshaw and Kevin Bowen departed without having troubled the scorers.

Brennan Devonald and Philip Cockburbn led the recovery for Tish with both smashing five sixes in their knocks.

Cockburn also hit nine fours for a score of 79 but he fell to Ben Hughes.

Devonald added five fours to his five maximums in his score of 61 but he couldn’t carry on and he was bowled by Lewis Hough.

Jonathan Pawlett added 21 late on but it wasn’t enough as Tish were bowled out for 195.

Hughes finished with excellent figures of 4-23 and Ben Quartermained finished with 2-40.

On Saturday, May 21, Narberth will look for another win when they visit Llangwm while Tish will look to get back to winning ways against Pembroke Dock.
