Narberth edge Lawrenny to go top of Division 1

NARBERTH moved to the top of Division 1 on Saturday (Jul 9) as they beat Lawrenny by just one run.

Lawrenny won the toss and chose to field first and they were able to bowl Narberth out for 189.

Loui Davies top scored for Narberth with 57 while Rhodri Dyer added 55 and Dan Hughes scored 18.

Ryan Morton was the pick of the bowlers for Lawrenny as he finished with excellent figures of 5-26. He had good support from Steve Lewis who finished with 3-28.

In reply, Morton completed an excellent all-round display with a century, eventually falling on 102.

Scores of 19 from Jon Beff and Rob Williams also pushed Lawrenny closer to their target but they fell just one run short.

Loui Davies matched Morton’s figures, taking 5-27, while Matthew John also claimed two wickets.

The win for Narberth gives them 19 points while Lawrenny took nine points for their efforts.

Narberth now sit top of the table, level on points with Cresselly, with just six games left to play this year.

On Saturday, July 16, Narberth travel to St Ishmaels while Lawrenny host Carew.
