On Saturday, May 28, FISHGUARD Under 12 girls took part in the National Clubs Finals in Cardiff House of Sport, having won the county tournament in February and finishing runners up in the regional tournament last month.

The day was filled with top class teams – the top 14 in Wales – from all over the country. Some phenomenal netball was played throughout the day, which included some outstanding play from the Fishguard girls themselves.

Credit to them, they’ve been dominant in the county league going all season undefeated but when faced with extremely tough opposition, each and every one of them stepped up their game and matched the other girls and even bettered them on some occasions.

Emily O’Connor and Rhian Homer as coaches are beaming with pride and could not be happier as to how the girls represented themselves, the club, Pembrokeshire and West Wales Netball. They finished the day in 4th place in the plate competition.

The club would like to say a huge thank you to their sponsors for the day. Without these, the day would have been extremely difficult to do.

They are: Round Table Fishguard & District, Morfa Milk, Preseli Farm Cottages, Growitmowit and JET Blacksmith.

Also, a big thank you to Rachel from Swansea for her fantastic effort in umpiring for them on the day and to the parents and supporters who turned up and cheered the girls on in every minute of every game.
