Neyland and Monkton share the points

NEYLAND and Monkton Swifts were forced to settle for a share of the points on Saturday (Jan 22) as their game finished 1-1.

Monkton started well and in just the second minute, a long goal kick from Monkton keeper Taylor Gullam into the Neyland half caused trouble as a slip from Kyle Richards allowed Declan Carroll in to lob the ball into the net.

Neyland had a couple of half chances but the score remained 1-0 to the Swifts until half time.

With the slope in the second half Max Bowman-Davies was causing trouble with his pace and grabbed an equaliser in the 76th minute with a neat right foot finish at the near post.

Monkton continued to press for a win, but Neyland defence stood firm to gain a valuable point.

It means that Neyland move two points above the drop zone and they remain four points behind Monkton in ninth place.

On Saturday, January 29, Neyland host Fishguard and Monkton travel to Hundleton.
