Neyland edge past Llanybydder

NEYLAND earned their fourth win of the season on Saturday (Mar 12) as they beat Llanybydder 15-11 in a close encounter.

The game was just seven minutes old when Prop Luke Griffiths-Dawes touched over for the game’s first try. The conversion was missed.

Llanybydder hit back soon after with a penalty from Llyr Tobias to reduce the score to 5-3.

With half an hour gone the visitors took the lead as Llyr Jones touched down for another unconverted try.

That gave Llany a 5-8 lead at the break but it was Neyland who got the first points of the second half.

Second Row Ben James touched down and Outside Half Ollie Rotheroe added the extras to make it 12-8.

Llyr Tobias added a penalty for the visitors to bring them within a point of Neyland going into the final stages.

The game finished with rain bashing down on the Athletic Ground pitch but the home side were able to extend their lead as Rotheroe landed another penalty.

That made it 15-11 with ten minutes still to play but neither side was able to add to the scoring as Neyland held on for victory.

Neyland’s next game is scheduled for Saturday, April 9, when they make the short trip to Pill Parks to take on Llangwm.

Llanybydder are next in action on Saturday, March 26, when they host Pembroke Dock Quins.
