Pembroke Dock ladies win Softball final

PEMBROKE Dock ladies won the Women’s 100 Softball Welsh Cup on Sunday (Aug 21) as they beat Sudbrook at Vale Cricket Club.

The Dockettes had only won the Division 2 title on Friday night (Aug 19) and they headed to Bridgend full of confidence.

Sudbrook won the toss and chose to field and the Dock posted 115-4 from their 100 balls.

They lost Sian James and Cheryl Hughes early on but Carys Lloyd and Katie Griffiths added 50 runs for the third wicket.

Lloyd scored 22 before being caught. Griffiths hit two fours as she reached a score of 33 before retiring.

Sudbrook hit back late on another wicket but Rachel Sander’s score of 17 saw the Dockettes to their total.

Sudbrook then made a good start to their reply as their openers shared 46 runs for the first wicket.

L Duncan made a score of 24 but she was bowled by Carys Lloyd. Cheryl Hughes then got her first wicket as she had H Till caught by Rachel Sander.

Hughes then bowled R Cavacuiti on a score of 29 that had included four fours and a six.
