PEMBROKE put in another excellent display on Saturday (Jan 19) as they beat league leaders Penclawdd 25-8.
The home side started the game well and went ahead early on after a good spell of pressure. Toby Smith passed out wide for Fraser James who touched down for an unconverted try.
Penclawdd then got themselves on the scoresheet with a penalty but Pembroke restored their five-point lead with a penalty from Smith.
Pembroke were well on top in the first half and were dominating at the scrums which led to a number of infringements from the visitors. On the stroke of half time the referee had seen enough and awarded Pembroke a penalty try.
That made it 15-3 at half time but an unconverted try at the start of the second half brought Penclawdd back into it.
Smith then sent another penalty through the posts to open up a ten point lead.
Pembroke then sealed victory with a good try which was finished by Jack Parkinson, who has recently re-joined the club, and Smith added the extras to complete an excellent win.
Coach Geraint Lewis was pleased with how his side played and delighted having restricted the leaders to just eight points.
The win means Pembroke are now six points off the leaders having played a game less.
On Saturday (Jan 26), they will look for another win as they go to bottom side Tumble.
