MORE than 950 youngsters from 52 schools took to their feet for the annual Pembrokeshire Primary Schools Cross Country Event.
Organised by Pembrokeshire Harriers and Sport Pembrokeshire the sports development service of Pembrokeshire County Council the pupils raced through the mud over eight competitive events.
The overall school team winner was Narberth while Hook took the small school title.
Held at Oakwood Theme Park, this years event – the 23rd – was watched by scores of spectators including fellow pupils, teachers and families.
Ben Field, Manager of Sport Pembrokeshire said the annual event was always extremely popular with pupils and attracted entrants from all over the county.
It’s a good way to introduce youngsters to the joy of running and the world of sport and hopefully it will inspire some of them to go on to race at a higher level, he said.
