CAREW remain third in Division 1 after a hat trick from Sam Christopher helped them to a 5-1 win away at Pennar Robins on Saturday (Feb 23).
The Rooks beat Pennar 2-0 in the reverse fixture a few weeks ago and the teams will lock horns once more as they contest their Senior Cup semi-final.
Carew took the lead as a Shaun Whitfield long throw was met by a powerful header from Jordan Richards and the ball flew into the back of the net.
Sam Christopher then created some space with some good play and he then smashed home to double Carew’s lead.
The Robins brought themselves back in the game as a free kick was headed in by Sam Southcott.
However, the two-goal cushion was soon restored as Spencer Williams pulled the ball back for Christopher to finish into an empty net.
The visitors weren’t finished there as Alex Bayley got to the byline and pulled back for Christopher who fired in to complete his hat trick.
That made it 4-1 and it was soon five as Iwan Izzard played in Whitfield who finished well.
Carew saw the game out and the win sees them remain twelve points behind second placed Goodwick with three games in hand.
On Saturday, March 2, Carew take a break from league action as they host Mumbles Rangers in the quarter final of the West Wales Cup.
Pennar Robins will look to bounce back and they have a local derby to look forward to as they travel to rivals Monkton Swifts.
