On form winger: Two more tries for Matthew George in Fishguard’s big win.

FISHGUARD and Goodwick were worthy winners in the first round of the Seagulls Cup, as they travelled the short distance and overcame the Saints with relative ease. Twelve tries were scored by the Seagulls, Simon James (4), James Griffiths (2), Matthew George (2), Sam Kurtz, Rhys Lewis, Mark George and Gavin Walsh as Griffiths added six conversions.

For the Saints, Scott John kicked a penalty and a conversion to Jack Jones’ try, which came after the referee penalised Fishguard in an inconsistent manner, leading to the yellow carding of substitute scrum half Alun George, who wasn’t on the pitch longer than 1 minute before he was shown the yellow card. Fishguard host Aberaeron on Saturday as St Davids travel to St Clears.
