DAFEN were big winners in Division 1 of the South Wales Cricket Association League as they scored over 300 runs for the second weekend running.
They finished their innings on a mammoth total of 317-2 in their game with Maesteg Celtic thanks to a score of 117 from Nicky Davies and 116 not out from Matthew Evans.
Between them they hit 33 boundaries while there was also a late cameo from David Dunfee.
Dunfee smashed five sixes and two fours in a knock of 53 that came off only 24 balls.
Maesteg lost wickets at regular intervals in their reply as Morgan Griffiths was out on a score of 10 and Ian Herbert scored 20.
Nick Poole top scored for Celtic with 62 but he was out when he hit his own wicket.
There were two wickets apiece for Matthew Donoghue, Chris Hudson, Gethin Long and Jonathan Randell as Celtic were all out for 135.
Bronwydd were beaten Gorseinon on Saturday after they could only reach 137-7 in their fifty overs.
James Cale was top scorer for his side with 55 while Oliver Furneaux finished not out on 29.
Josh Simmons took four wickets for Gorseinon as they restricted Bronwydd well.
Kieran Howells then got his side up and running in their reply with a half century while Jack Donovan and Josh Simmons completed their victory finishing not out on 21 and 31 respectively.
Llandysul also suffered defeat on Saturday as a century from Thomas Merilaht helped Cowbridge post 261-7 in their game.
Merilaht had good support from Ben Wright who scored 35 and Jack Cropper who scored 61 runs.
The pick of the bowlers for Llandysul was Andrew Edwards who finished with figures of 3-48 from his ten overs.
Opener Gary Williams scored 31 runs for Llandysul in their reply but they lost wickets at regular intervals and slipped to 64-4.
Ieuan Paske added 21 while Andrew Edwards hit a score of 70 as he did his best to get his side going. However when he fell Llandysul were left hanging on 162-9 before they were all out for 179.
On Saturday (Jun 9), Dafen travel to Aberdare, Llandysul are at home to the Swansea Civil Service and Bronwydd travel to Merthyr Tydfil.
In Division 2, Drefach earned their second win of the season as they beat Briton Ferry Town by six wickets.
Briton Ferry won the toss and batted first and opener Yakoob Ali played well as he hit twelve fours and three sixes in a knock of 87.
Adrian Mainwaring was his side’s next highest scorer on 19 as Town reached 162-7 from their fifty overs.
James Carter was the pick of the Drefach bowlers as he finished with excellent figures of 5-22 from his eight overs.
Rob Seymour got Drefach off to a good start in their reply as he scored 59 runs and Dafydd Humprheys added 20.
Owen Donovan finished not out on 22 while Tomos Ellis-Williams was unbeaten on a score of 40 as Drefach reached their target with plenty of time to spare.
Felinfoel suffered a narrow defeat in their game with Maesteg as they reached their target with only one wicket in hand off the final ball of the innings.
The visitors batted first after Maesteg elected to field but only Andrew Thomas (67) and Julian Griffiths (87 not out) troubled the scorers as they were the only two to reach double figures.
Craig Richards and Stuart Parmenter took three wickets each for Felinfoel as they did their best to derail Maesteg’s chase.
Ashley Colston top scored for Maesteg with 43 runs while Ewan Lambert scored a late 29 before he was one of Rhys Harries’ two victims.
Lee Morgan then scored the winning runs off the last ball to break Felinfoel’s hearts.
Division 2 leaders Llangennech maintained their place at the top with a six wicket win over Morriston.
Llangennech elected to field first and they did well to restrict Morriston to 180-8 from their fifty overs.
Opener Tom Fenn scored 43 while Ben Haigh made a quickfire 28. Sam Hughes scored 20 while Jay Wittram finished not out on 57.
Jack Williams was the pick of the bowlers as he finished with figures of 3-21 from his seven overs.
Hedd-Wyn Jones made 40 as Llangennech got their reply off to a good start while James Taube top scored as he hit twelve fours and two sixes in a knock of 86 before he fell to the bowling of Mark Whittaker.
David Williams finished not out on 20 as he eased Llangennech over the line with time to spare.
On Saturday (Jun 9), Drefach are away to Baglan, Llangennech make the trip to Briton Ferry Town and Felinfoel are at home to Briton Ferry Steel.
