St Florence crowned Division 4 Champions

ST FLORENCE were crowned champions of Division 4 on Saturday (Mar 26) following their win over Carew thirds.

Prior to the game there was still a chance that Camrose seconds could claim the title but that would have required a slip-up from a St Florence team who have not lost all season.

The first half of Saturday’s game was goalless with just a couple of yellow cards being handed out.

Early in the second half the Saints were awarded a penalty but Carew keeper Richard Walwyn made a good save to keep the scores level.

However, soon after St Florence did take the lead through Ashley Smith.

With twenty minutes to go, Jacob Webster scored to double the Saints’ lead to give his side one hand on the trophy.

The afternoon ended on a sour note for the Saints though as Webster was sent off late on after recieving a second yellow card.

It has been an excellent season for St Florence who have won 14 of their 19 games so far this season, drawing the other five.

On Saturday, April 2, St Florence finish their season with a home game against Solva seconds.
