St Ishmaels march on to Alec Colley quarter finals

ST ISHMAELS booked their place in the quarter finals of the Alec Colley Cup on Wednesday night (Jun 15) as they beat Saundersfoot by eight wickets.

Saundersfoot won the toss and elected to bat but they could only reach 110-5 from their 20 overs.

Gareth Edwards and S Rurke got Saundersfoot going with a first wicket stand of 37 but Edwards was bowled by Stuart Carpenter on a score of 18.

Rurke and James Caine shared another 29 runs for the second wicket and Rurke reached a score of 28 but he was then caught by Carpenter off the bowling of Steven Williams.

Caine and Paul Mansbridge continued to put runs on the board but Caine was out on a score of 20 to the bowling of Williams.

Iori Richards added 10 to the total before falling to Lenny Rees who then also bowled Paul Morris for a duck.

That left Saundersfoot on 104-5 but Mansbridge finished unbeaten on 19 to take his side to their total.

Tish lost Phil Llewellyn early in their reply when he was trapped leg before by Kevin Sykes.

However, a second wicket stand of 53 between Steven Hartley and Richard Brock all but won the game for Tish.

Hartley hit three fours and two sixes in his score of 30 from 17 balls but he was then caught and bowled by Rurke.

That was as good as it got for Saundersfoot as Brock and Stuart Carpenter saw Tish to victory.

Carpenter was not out on 20 from 12 balls while Brock hit seven fours and two sixes, his second of which won the game, as he finished unbeaten on 53.

That helped Tish to victory inside 12 overs and they will now look forward to their quarter final tie.
