FOUR goals from James Stanmore ensured league champions Hakin United gained another three points with an odd goal in nine victory in an entertaining tussle at Monkton Lane.

The Swifts exerted early pressure from the kick off and the pressure paid off in the 10th minute when striker Wayne Brunton turned inside the box and scored from 12 yards.

Monkton made it 2-0 after 25 minutes when Ben Nicholas got the better of a stiff tackle and lobbed the keeper to score.

This spurred the Vikings into action and they scored five minutes later through Jonathon Bennett.

Just before the half time whistle James Stanmore scored the equaliser from six yards from an Adam Davies centre, but after the break the Swifts took the lead again with Brunton conjuring up a carbon copy of his first goal.

But the champions rallied again after 55 minutes when Ashley Bevan provided Stanmore with the perfect pass to take the lead.

Stanmore scored again on the hour mark from an Adam Davies cross, and he got his fourth in the 80th minute to give his side a two goal lead.

The referee gave a penalty for a trip in the Hakin box with two minutes to go which Daniel Scourfield converted, and the champions had to hang on in the remaining minutes to keep the three points.
