Swifts hit Tish for six

MONKTON SWIFTS earned their third win of the season on Saturday (Jan 8) as they came from behind to beat St Ishmaels 6-2.

The game was just four minutes old when Declan Carroll put the Swifts ahead but it wasn’t long before Tish hit back.

Kieran Rendell equalised with ten minutes gone and the visitors took a 2-1 lead before the break as Brennan Devonald rose highest to head home from a corner.

Tish held on to their lead until half time but two quick-fire goals early in the second half turned the game on its head.

Carroll grabbed his second and Blake James then scored to put the Swifts back in the lead at 3-2.

Three minutes later the Swifts had their fourth as Carroll completed his hat trick.

With twenty minutes to go Dylan Davies scored Monkton’s fifth and he made it 6-2 ten minutes later to all but seal the win.

The win for the Swifts moves them five points clear of Tish and puts them back in touch with some of the sides above them in the table.

On Saturday, January 15, Monkton host Hakin United while Tish travel to Goodwick United.
