MILFORD HAVEN ladies hockey team have been bullying off and going strong since 1976.
They began playing hockey in the Pembrokeshire league but moved to the South Wales League in 2007. Diane Davies has played a big part in the club. She has played hockey since the age of 16 and she has been coaching the girls for the last 13 years.
The ladies play their home matches in Milford Haven Comprehensive School on the astro-turf. Leading the team this year is captain Cherie Pitcher-Schofield, the team’s goal keeper.
The Milford ladies team won the Pembrokeshire hockey tournament at the start of the season, and the girls were thrilled and proud with the win as they have a lot of new players this year.
They have had creditable wins this year against Cardiff Met away and Gwernyfed away, which was helped by top goal scorer Rachel Coe. Currently in the South Wales League Division Two, Milford sit in eighth place, although team member Charlotte Davies told the Herald:
“We are hoping to improve our home form after the Christmas break and move up the table.”
The ladies hockey team are very grateful and would like to thanks all of their previous and present sponsors, Milford Haven Port Authority, Granicol and M&A Engineering.
