Football (soccer) is the most popular sport in the world, but the Super Bowl is one of the biggest sporting events to take place each year. With that in mind, let’s take a deeper look at 2024’s Super Bowl, from the teams who were competing to the spectacular half-time show.
The event
Millions of people all over the world watch the spectacle every year and in 2024, 61,629 people attended the event live at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Sunday 11 February. The 2024 Super Bowl was also a big hit in the UK, with 3.4 million viewers tuning in across Sky Sports and ITV.
Reba McEntire kicked the show off with a heartfelt performance of The Star-Spangled Banner (the American national anthem) and brought tears to the eyes of many Americans across the country.
The teams
The 2024 Super Bowl put the Kansas City Chiefs against the San Francisco 49ers. This was the second time the teams had come head to head on the grand stage. They previously competed for the title in 2020, in which the Chiefs defeated the Niners 31-20.
2024 marked the eighth appearance at the Super Bowl for the San Francisco 49ers and the sixth appearance for Kansas City Chiefs.
The Kansas City Chiefs had the best Super Bowl odds, as they had claimed the title in the previous year and played very well in the play-offs.
The 2024 Super Bowl winner
The winner of the 2024 Super Bowl was the Kansas City Chiefs. They beat the San Francisco 49ers 25-22.
