Thomas delivers for Cwmamman United

A40 fatal accident: Emergency service response on Feb 1 (Pic: Herald reader)

A DAY not to forget for Cwm player manager Ryan Thomas as he took charge of his first match for the Blues and then saw his last minute penalty secure a valuable point.

Cwm introduced new signings Ross Morgan and Kyle Ashford and it was good to see the return of Terry Maynard and Adrian Hazelby for their first league matches.

Once again Cwm had to reshuffle the side due to absences but after a slow start that saw Treharris waste a couple of good chances the side settled and we saw some of the best football they have played this season.

Ross Morgan and Cam Isaac were constantly involved in midfield while Kyle Ashford’s runs were regularly testing the Treharris defence.

However it was Treharris who took the lead with a hotly contested penalty converted by Sam Cawley. Cwm then thought they had immediately equalised but it was ruled out for offside.

The second half saw Cwm on the offence which saw the Treharris woodwork tested as Ryan Thomas hit the bar and Adrian Hazelby hit the post.

It looked as if the game had gone but in the 90th minute Terry Maynard was fouled in the box and Ryan Thomas the coolest person on the pitch stepped up to slot it home.

There was still enough time for one more chance for Cwm and Treharris were happy to hold on for the point in the end.

Ryan Thomas will have been pleased with the play and approach of the side and will be looking forward to continuing the improvement as they take on second placed Cardiff Draconians at Grenig Park next Saturday.
