Tish move up to sixth after beating Lawrenny

ST ISHMAELS moved themselves out of the bottom two on Saturday (Jun 25) as they beat Lawrenny by 88 runs.

Lawrenny won the toss and chose to field and they were able to bowl Tish out for 158.

Opener Karl Rhead reached a score of 19 before going off with an injury but returned later on to finish unbeaten on 24.

There were also scores of 27 from Richard Brock and 20 from Andrew Pawlett while their top scorer was Jonathan Pawlett who hit five fours in his score of 40.

Harry Thomas and Steve Lewis did the damage for Lawrenny as they each took three wickets. Thomas finished with figures of 3-34 and Lewis had 3-29.

Finley Lewis also took two wickets for figures of 2-20 while Ryan Morton and Jamie Lewis both claimed a wicket each.

In reply, Lawrenny found themselves in trouble early on as openers Harry Thomas and Finley Lewis were dismissed for ducks by Brennan Devonald.

Troy Purslowe was trapped leg before on a score of 10 by Jonathan Pawlett as Lawrenny slipped to 11-3.

James Phillips and Steve Lewis added 30 runs for the fourth wicket but Lewis fell to the bowling of Andrew Pawlett on a score of 11.

Devonald then picked up his third wicket as he had Phillips caught by Andrew Williams on a score of 19.

Pawlett then also had Kyle Marsh caught by Jonathan Pawlett and Joe Kidney trapped leg before as Lawrenny slumped to 48-7.

That became 54-8 as Ryan Morton also fell to the bowling of Andrew Pawlett.

Rob Williams and Matt Lewis added 15 runs for the ninth wicket but Pawlett struck again as he trapped Williams leg before.

Fittingly, Pawlett brought the innings to a close as he had Lewis caught by Huw Scriven as Lawrenny were bowled out for 70.

Andrew Pawlett finished with brilliant figures of 6-16 and Tish claimed 18 points for their win.

Despite the win, other results mean they are only five points above the bottom two, while six points separates them from bottom side Pembroke Dock.
