Tish win again to stun Wizards

ST ISHMAELS made it five wins from their last six games as they beat Merlins Bridge 1-0 at the Racecourse on Saturday (Mar 26).

Tish travelled to Merlins Bridge looking to continue their good form as they look to secure their place in Division 1.

It was Bridge who started the game strong as they looked to get on top of Tish early on creating some chances but not testing the Tish keeper.

As the game went on Tish began to grow into it more and more, creating chances for themselves but again not much for the home keeper to do.

The score remained 0-0 at half time with both teams enjoying spells with the ball.

The second half began and the away side came out and looked a much improved side compared to the first half and looked to have much more confidence going forwards. They began to get in behind the Bridge defenders and Tish started to have a few chances.

The game remained in the balance until a long ball forward from captain Brennan Devonald who found striker Ed Richards inside the box, the striker took the ball down well taking it past a couple of defenders before eventually finding the bottom corner.

The score now at 1-0 to the away side Bridge looked to find a way back into the game committing players forward spaces opened up for Tish to potentially seal the game.

The chances weren’t taken and the game remain 1-0. With only a couple minutes to play Bridge captain Will Haworth found himself with a chance to shoot but the Tish keeper stood tall and made the save to keep the score at 1-0.

Tish were able to hang on a grab a ‘huge’ 3 points towards their relegation survival.
