Wanderers well beaten by Pentyrch

PENTYRCH earned their fifth win of the season on Saturday (Jun 4) as they beat Carmarthen Wanderers by nine wickets.

Pentyrch won the toss and chose to field and they were able to bowl the Wanderers out for 128.

Owain Davies and Ifan Knott shared 23 runs for the first wicket before Knott was bowled by George Barratt.

Mike Grossett then had the wickets of Owain Binding and Gareth Thomas to reduce the Wanderers to 43-3.

That became 43-4 as Davies, who had hit five fours in his score of 26, was trapped leg before by Tegh Sehgal.

Sehgal also claimed the wicket of Robbie Crawford as the Wanderers slipped to 52-5.

Tom Davies and Owen Bailey then offered some resistance as they shared 41 runs for the sixth wicket.

Bailey hit three fours in his score of 20 but was then out to the bowling of Todd Wilcox.

Davies and Liam Rogers then added 28 runs for thr seventh wicket as they looked to give their side a good total to defend.

Rogers hit 18 from 12 balls but was then caught by Barratt off the bowling of Wilcox.

Davies had hit six fours in his score of 32 but he fell to Nick Edwards who then also bowled Iestyn Scourfield and William Moore.

That brought the innings to a close and Pentyrch would need just 129 to win.

Lewis Coates and Stuart Roberts shared 93 runs for the first wicket to all but give their side the win.

Owen Bailey bowled Roberts on a score of 38 but that was as good as it got for the Wanderers.

Todd Wilcox hit three fours and a six to finish not out on 22 while Coates hit eight fours as he finished unbeaten on 57.

On Saturday, June 11, Pentyrch host Ynysygerwn while Carmarthen Wanderers travel to Gorseinon.
