Banged up for Christmas

On remand: Alex Brown
On remand: Alex Brown
On remand: Alex Brown

A LACK of a bail address meant that a Milford Haven man had to be remanded in custody on Wednesday (Dec 17). Alex Brown, aged 21, of Sycamore Close, pleaded not guilty to a charge of assault at Haverfordwest Magistrates’ Court on Monday (Dec 15) after an alleged incident that occurred in the town last week.

The CPS sought to remand Brown in custody as they believed he would re-offend if released on bail. But, defending, Gareth Lewis argued that he could be granted bail with a number of conditions. An address was suggested and the solicitor made enquiries as to whether or not this would have been a viable option. No contact could be made and the case was adjourned.

However, on Wednesday, the matter was brought back to court and contact had still not been made. The Magistrates therefore remanded him in custody for a further 28 days. His trial will be held on February 4, 2015.
