A TRACTOR and trailer transporting hundreds of chickens lost its load on the bend opposite Aenon Baptist Church, Sandyhill, near Milford Haven, killing the majority of livestock on board.
At 12:30 pm on December 27, crates full of live birds slid off the back of the tractor, hitting the wall outside the church on the opposite side of the road. Traffic stopped as hundreds of injured chickens roamed around in shock. The carcasses of birds were strewn across the road, some beheaded. Many chickens were trapped in their crates, some of which had birds wedged between them. Members of the public left their vehicles to help sort the surviving birds from the dead. Police were called to the scene to investigate. The farmer was unavailable for comment.
