Hollywood director spotted in west Wales

abercastleOSCAR nominated director Tim Burton has been spotted in West Wales, as he scouts locations for his next blockbuster movie. The director of Sweeny Todd, Edward Scissorhands and Alice in Wonderland was seen taking pictures of his surroundings as he visited Aberystwyth Castle, and other parts of Ceredigion, as the 55-year-old looks for his ideal locations ahead of his next project, and adaptation of the New York Times best seller “Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children”. The Californian, married to Harry Potter actress Helena Bonham Carter, was dressed in black as he snapped away around the 13th century ruins of Aberystwyth Castle. “Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children” is a 2011 novel by Los Angeles-based author Ransom Riggs. Mrs Peregrine seems it could be perfect fit for Burton’s darkly comic, gothic style. The story tells the tale of a Florida teenager who, following his grandfather’s unexplained death, travels to a seemingly deserted outcrop in the Irish Sea and discovers a group of supernaturally gifted youngsters living in an abandoned orphanage. The book may speak of a fictitious Welsh island called Cairnholm, however, the director may be looking for a very real location in west Wales.
